HOW TO SHORTEN THE AXIS BODICE
A STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL
The key to the Axis dress fitting well is to have the skirt waist seam sitting on your natural waist (your narrowest point) and the neckline of front bodice sitting directly on your collar bone. If you are finding the neckline is coming too high, chances are you need to do a short bodice adjustment. We show you how below…
STEP 1
Put your Axis Dress muslin on, pin the skirt together at the back to hold in place on your natural waist. Pin out excess fabric from the front bodice above bust line until the neckline is sitting on your collarbone.
STEP 2
Pin out the same amount of excess from the back bodice as you took out from the front.
STEP 3
Mark 2.5cm/1” below armhole on both front and back bodice pieces. Front: Draw a line across from this point squared with the centre front. Back: Square a line out from side seam.
STEP 4
Draw a second line below, parallel with the line you have just drawn, the amount you want to remove from the bodice.
STEP 5
Cut along the the top line.
STEP 6
Place the bottom edge of top section along your second line, lining up the side seams. Tape in place.
STEP 7
Redraw the curve as pictured.
STEP 8
Trim off excess. Voila! You’re ready to get sewing :-)
